Garrett College’s new Introduction to Culinary Art’s program provides students with the necessary skills for entry level positions in restaurants, resorts, hotels, and catering kitchen operations. Students will be provided the foundational skills for which all cooks and chefs can build upon. With a combination of both theory and hands-on instruction students will learn about food safety, sanitation regulations, culinary terms, knife skills, recipe creation, food costs, operation of kitchen equipment, fundamentals of working the line to name a few. Students will have the ability to earn both the ServSafe Manager certification as well as the Certified Kitchen Cook certification from the American Hotel and Lodging institute at the completion of the program.
